Job overview

The Health Faculty are seeking to appoint a talented teacher of Physical Education to join our dedicated, supportive team. Our vision is to offer the greatest number of opportunities to as many students as possible, both in and out of the curriculum, in order to inspire a personal commitment to maintaining health and well-being into adult life.

Our curriculum enables our students to access engaging, informative and thought-provoking lessons through a variety of delivery methods and experiences to interest and inspire our learners. We firmly believe that for students to be successful citizens, they must be healthy in body and mind and this starts by understanding the value of leading a healthy lifestyle. The Health Faculty offers an extensive extracurricular program to support students in achieving this.

PE is a very popular element of Essa Academy’s curriculum. At Key Stage 3 and 4 all students take part in three hours of physical activity over two weeks, where they will learn how to perform skills and make decisions, whilst developing their knowledge of the subject across a range of sporting activities. Students are offered the opportunity to study OCR Cambridge National Sports Studies and BTEC Tech Performing Arts at key stage 4 and we attract very healthy number to all extracurricular clubs both before and after school.

The successful candidate will be a passionate and inspirational teacher with a real desire to build resilience in their students and improve teaching and learning. Upholding our high standards and a commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for our students is essential along with a clear commitment to the Faculty’s extracurricular provision.

We particularly welcome applications from newly qualified teachers or main scale teachers with a thirst for progression.

Our curriculum engages students of all abilities. We strive to create a love of learning and we are committed to developing the holistic child. Our curriculum incorporates careers and real- life problems and addresses the needs of all our students across a range of abilities.
