We are looking for a PE Teacher in a school that offers excellent opportunities for professional development. Twyford Church of England High School (Ofsted ‘Outstanding’) is one of four Twyford Trust schools, a successful multi-academy Trust based in the Borough of Ealing. We offer comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for our teachers. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (October 2023) and SIAMS (December 2024) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.

Twyford has a well-developed curriculum that focuses on a balance of breadth and depth covering a wide range of sports. It aims to develop the whole child, focusing on the social, physical and cognitive development of the student. The curriculum is delivered using our outstanding sports facilities, which include Sports Hall that serves a range of sports. There is also a newly re-surfaced MUGA, two dance studios and the year-round use of the WASPS RFC field for football, rugby and cricket.

Twyford offers one of the most extensive state school extra-curricular Wider Learning programmes in the Borough and is proud of the school’s competitive achievements. There is a ‘Sport for All’ philosophy that operates alongside school team coaching and squad training. The after-school programme is led and delivered by the PE team as well as local coaches that come from linked sporting clubs with a very high-level sporting or coaching background. Our sports teams compete in regular competitions on a Borough, County and National Level.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to teach PE to at least KS4.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments.
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement.
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively.

Twyford CE High School, Acton

Twyford CE High School was set up by the LDBS in 1981. The school has an excellent reputation and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2017). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 500 students to the Sixth Form.

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools. Twyford Church of England High School is the founding school of the Twyford CE Academies Trust which is the highest performing Trust in the UK.  It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages and a reputation for excellence which has made it heavily oversubscribed. Twyford has very strong Christian foundations and is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (October 2023) and was very successful in its SIAMS inspection (November 2024).

Twyford educates 1000 students in years 7-11 and consistently achieves outstanding GCSE results with a Progress 8 score of +1.26 in 2023 and +1.1 in 2024. Twyford’s students achieve strong results with 81% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in English and Maths, and an Attainment 8 score of 67 in 2025. The school has a large Sixth Form of over 650 students and offers a wide range of A-Levels with strong results across the 25 subjects on offer. In 2025 nearly 50% of A levels were graded A* or A and over 75% graded B or above.

The majority of Sixth Form students progress to university taking a wide range of routes including competitive courses such as Medicine and Engineering at Oxbridge and top Russell Group universities. There is also an Additional Resourced Centre for students with EHC Plans, mainly focused on students with Autism and Speech & Language difficulties.
