Job overview
Glebe School is looking for a PE Technician to enhance our committed and supportive team. The role requires the successful candidate to have an interest in PE and sports, good organisational skills and the ability to work both as directed by the PE teachers and independently.
Glebe is an outstanding secondary special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs, including autistic spectrum condition.
Due to the requirement in this role to supervise male pupils in changing areas, this post is open to male applicants only.
The successful candidate will support the teaching of PE as part of a team and have an awareness of health and safety and risk assessments. We believe in investing in our staff and have a comprehensive and ongoing CPD programme, offering opportunities for advancement. We have been awarded the Platinum standard by ‘Investors in People.’
Our support staff work 33.75 hours per week (including a paid lunch break). The contract is 39 weeks; term time only, with hours worked over 38 weeks to allow for a two-week autumn half term. Duties will include:
· Maintenance of equipment within the department
· Preparation of resources; being able to predict what resources will be needed for lessons
· Collating & effective storing of video and voice recording used for assessment & planning
· Assisting students with practical work during lesson time
· Assisting staff with the supervision of students in lessons and break times
· Assisting other departments on occasion, as required
