Job overview

Bournemouth Collegiate School Swimming Club is affiliated to the ASA South West Region and is one of the leading competitive swimming clubs in Dorset. The club has a proven track record in producing National and International athletes, from GB Internationals, National medallists and National qualifiers.

We are now in an exciting period of the Club’s development and are keen to appoint an ambitious, determined Coach to join the team. Working closely with the Head Coach, the successful candidate will help facilitate the development of our age group programme and will be responsible for producing the next generation of elite athletes at BCS.

The role is full time and will include providing additional support in land work sessions, and cover in the absence of the Head Coach.

The successful candidate will have their ASA/UKCC Level 3 Coaching Qualification or equivalent. We may consider Level 2 qualified coaches who are close to achieving Level 3 in the near future.

The successful candidate will have experience of developing swimmers through to a minimum of County/Regional level and must be confident working and communicating with a wide range of people from the swimming community.

They will co-ordinate training under the guidance of the Head Coach and must be highly motivated and passionate about developing talented young people to the highest possible levels. They will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills. A detailed knowledge of talent identification and long term athlete development are essential. This role will include attendance at targeted open meets throughout the year, set by the Head Coach

The successful candidate’s development and progression will also be a central focus and in return the candidate will be expected to coach across all levels, ages and abilities.

Accommodation in the Boarding house is available if required.

BCS is a co-educational independent school on the south coast. The school has extensive facilities across two sites; BCS Senior (day and boarding, 11-18) is situated in excellent grounds in Southbourne, Bournemouth and BCS Prep (day, 2-11) is in spacious accommodation in Lower Parkstone, Poole. There are currently approximately 630 pupils on roll.

BCS provides a nurturing environment where the happiness of the pupils comes first.

We have developed the 4Cs of BCS; creativity, curiosity, commitment and community and through our broad and dynamic curriculum we believe we equip, challenge and develop pupils in all these important areas.

Our added value also extends to the significant number of co-curricular opportunities offered to pupils, which help to instil and develop the skills we want our daughters and sons to have as they grow up. Consequently, BCS pupils leave the School as well-balanced, confident and versatile young people.

We want to inspire each pupil to make the most of the talents they have. This way the pupils at BCS, of any age, grow in self-esteem, develop resilience, have a sense of fun and adventure and are equipped to flourish as young adults.
