£ 19,109.54 – £20,228.26 (pro rata of £31,270.16 – £33,100.79) per annum.
As one of the largest sixth form colleges in London (more than 2,500 students), we are a non-selective, diverse and secular college, proud to have launched over 50,000 young people onto university, training and employment since we were founded in 1992. Our results for A-Levels and vocational study are impressive – in 2018, a massive 90% of applicants progressed to university and we were also rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ for Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare (PDBW) and ‘good’ for overall effectiveness. The college combines great facilities with quality teaching and high standards, including a new multi-million pound building, providing state of the art technology enabled learning resource centre, drama studio and café.
A vacancy exists for a Performance & Development Basketball Coach to lead our basketball programmes over the coming years.
Since the college was established in 1992, NewVIc has recognised the value of sport and fitness in the lives of young people. We have the benefit of some excellent facilities on campus, we have a strong team of teaching and coaching staff, and have good links with professional organisations which extend the range of sports-related opportunities available to our students.
The college has had considerable success, particularly in team sports. We are, for example, one of the most successful cricketing colleges in London and have a well-established Cricket Academy. For a number of years we have also run a Basketball Development Academy which will be the focus of this post over the coming years.
The curriculum offer promotes progression and career opportunities for young people while the daily participation rates in a wide range of sport and fitness activities is excellent.
Led by the Sports Academy Manager you will be involved in the development, promotion and delivery of all Basketball activity with our students (aged 16-19).
As college we have a full programme of sports including elite sports provision, recreational and enhancement work as well as being committed to offering sports opportunities for the full range of our students with disabilities.
In addition, working in line with the AoC Sport ‘Fit for College, Fit for Work & Fit for Life’ strategy, we are ever expanding our work across other curriculum areas, supporting the teaching of specific course units to support appropriate levels of physical activity cross college.
