PERFORMANCE & EVENT TECHNICAL APPRENTICE
The Performance and Event Technical Apprentice ensures that the highest standard of technical support is provided and delivered for our school performances and events.
Under the guidance of the Technical Services Team management, the Performance and Events Technical Apprentice will have particular responsibility for the coordination of technical support for school performances, events and media services. They will also provide a pro-active input to the development and delivery of technical support in this area.
Key responsibilities
● Under the guidance of the Technical Services Team management, assist with performance and event Audio/Visual requirements.
● Oversee and support the use of Audio/Visual, lighting systems and sound system for events and as required.
● Liaise with the event organiser to determine technical requirements and allow sufficient planning.
● To work with the Technical Services Team management on whole school matters relating to Audio Visual, lighting and media services within the remit of the role.
● When necessary, liaise with external lighting, video or sound contractors.
● Support the use of Video and photo editing software as required.
All members of the Technical Services Team (as appropriate) are expected to undertake the following duties when appropriate:
● Assist with the support of (but not limited to) computer workstations, servers, infrastructure, peripherals, network consumables, telephone systems, mobile devices, wireless networks, sound & lighting and all associated equipment, as required.
● Assist with the provision, maintenance and support of school systems including (but not limited to) email systems, MIS systems, web filtering systems, parent contact systems, anti-virus protection, and all school software, as required.
● Regular and flexible approach to working at all school sites.
● Correct use of ServiceDesk software to process and manage tickets.
● Follow school policy regarding Asset management and ensuring that equipment appropriately secured.
● Provide administrative support to the Technical Services Team management as required.
● Any reasonable tasks requested by the Technical Services Team management.
● Participation in the school Continuous Professional Development programme, including annual Performance review.
Person specification
Experience: (an advantage but not necessarily all essential).
● Experience of/ or an interest in lighting and sound technologies would be beneficial.
● Knowledge of computer and mobile technology hardware.
● Knowledge and experience of media services including related software and hardware.

● Excellent written and verbal communications.
● High level of professionalism and integrity.
● A conscientious and methodical ‘hands-on’ worker.
● The ability to organise and prioritise work, to meet deadlines and to work effectively under pressure.

● On occasion, it may be necessary for the Performance and Events Technical Co-ordinator to be available for support outside of the role’s normal working hours. A mobile phone may be provided for this.

The Abbey School is a dynamic and vibrant community of more than 1,000 girls aged 3-18.
The Abbey is always in the top division nationally in academic terms. This year's A-levels were excellent with 75% at A*- B and at GCSE 88% gained 9-7 grades.
