Nous avons hâte de vous rencontrer

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic French teacher to join our Pre-Prep team on a part-time basis preferably from January 2023, however, this can be amended to suit your availability. Ideally working three hours per week in the afternoon, (but timings can be discussed), you will deliver practical and engaging French lessons through games, puppets and songs to children in our Nursery through to Year 2. We would also encourage you to run an afterschool club once a week until 4.30pm, however this is not essential.

Elstree Pre-Prep consists of six classes catering for boys and girls from 3-7 years old. It was founded in 1993 with just eight pupils and now caters for around ninety children.  We are situated on a site of great natural beauty between Reading and Newbury and have an excellent academic record combined with first-rate facilities. The children are taught in classes by their class teacher for the majority of the day but have specialist teachers for Music, French, Drama and PE.

Elstree Pre-Prep is an exciting place to work. We are a close community and pride ourselves on the very special, warm environment that has evolved since our inception, influenced largely by the family principles of Elstree School. We are often the first experience of school life and understand how important these initial steps on the educational road are. We understand each parent’s desire for their child to feel happy and secure and consider our role in the children’s development and happiness to be a very privileged one. Our committed, energetic and enthusiastic staff look forward to working in partnership with parents throughout their child’s time at the Pre-Prep. All children are valued as individuals and are encouraged to explore and develop their talents to the full.

To find out more about Elstree and to apply, please download an application pack and email it to apply@elstreeschool.org.uk If you require further information, please call Rachel Pither Head of HR on 0118 971 0604.

Applicants are encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made. The closing date for all applications is Midday on Friday 6th January 2023.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

Elstree is an award-winning independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 -13 years, just over an hour outside of London in rural Berkshire.

Set in 150 acres of beautiful grounds, Elstree offers a secure and stimulating environment for children to be nurtured and inspired.

Elstree provides a first-class education within a distinctive warm and friendly atmosphere. Proud of its rich history and reputation as a school with high academic, creative and sporting achievements, pupils from Elstree gain places to some of the country’s top Senior Schools, including Eton, Radley, Bradfield, Marlborough, Winchester and Wellington.

Elstree is large enough to accommodate two state of the art Science laboratories, a new Music School, full size all-weather pitch, outdoor pool, woodland for outdoor learning, and a lake for kayaking, yet with a total intake of around 275, Elstree is small enough to be personal and family-focused.

Elstree retains its traditional values whilst fully embracing today’s thinking and aims to help pupils realise their full potential with the encouragement and support of dedicated staff, excellent pastoral care and a full array of extra-curricular programmes, for which Elstree is renowned.
