Job overview

Dunottar School is looking to appoint an experienced and well-qualified guitar teacher to join our team of instrumental teachers.

Our thriving Music Department is based in the atmospheric surroundings of the mansion house and this illustrates perfectly the important role music plays in school life. With numerous instrumental and vocal ensembles, pupils have many opportunities to perform both at school and in the community. The department hosts a busy programme of events and concerts each term and the Ballroom, which houses one of the school’s two grand pianos, is an ideal setting for recitals.

We are looking for:

• A first-rate musician who can motivate and inspire young people in music

• A flexible teacher who can adapt to the different learning styles of their pupils and can demonstrate this at interview

• Excellent interpersonal skills and organisation

Dunottar is a vibrant, co-educational independent secondary school set in extensive grounds of 15 acres on the outskirts of Reigate, Surrey. We have 460 pupils across years 7-13 and are part of United Learning’s large and growing family of schools. We are a first-choice school for parents in the local area and operate a waiting list for admissions.

Through excellent teaching and outstanding pastoral care, we aim to bring out the best in every pupil, enabling them to be the very best they can be. We believe that for pupils to succeed in the workplace of the future, they need a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics. Our unique Warrior Learning ethos encourages pupils to aim high, to challenge themselves and not to fear making mistakes, whilst also developing an excellent set of values.
