The School is now looking to appoint a peripatetic singing teacher to work within the School’s flourishing and successful music department.

Main duties        

  • To teach one-to-one singing lessons as per the rotational timetable.
  • Teach pupils, ranging from complete beginners to those of diploma standard, the technique and musicianship required to develop as singers, offering encouragement, support and guidance as necessary
  • To encourage and prepare pupils for entry in graded examinations (ABRSM, Trinity, RockSchool etc).
  • Reports – To prepare reports of pupils’ progress and maintain an up-to-date register
  • Being familiar with all the general requirements for public examinations (including GCSE, AS, A Level and entry requirements for university and other courses) and ensuring proper preparation of the pupils for them.
  • To attend staff meetings, in-service training and conferences regularly to keep up to date with current training modalities.
  • To undertake any reasonable additional duties at the request of the Principal.


Person Specification

Essential:

  • Be able to teach and coach pop, musical theatre and classical repertoire confidently
  • Excellent skills in chosen instrument
  • Competent keyboard skills for accompanying students in lessons
  • Are able to teach to diploma standard
  • Experience of one to one teaching.
  • Proven IT skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Teams.
  • Ability to work as an efficient, reliable and flexible team member.
  • Clean driving license (will possibly need to escort students to exams).
  • To support and uphold the School’s policies
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact

 

Desirable:    

  • Experience of teaching music theory.
