PERMANENT FULL TIME HEAD OF MUSIC
TLR 2c
Main Scale or UPS
Required from April or September 2023
Cromwell Community College, a member of the Active Learning Trust, is an all-through school which aspires to be outstanding and we want our music department to be a driving force towards this aspiration.
We are therefore looking to appoint an inspirational Head of Music to lead the delivery of outstanding lessons and extra-curricular opportunities within the subject at Cromwell Community College from EYFS to Key Stage 5.
You should have excellent subject knowledge and a passion to develop and deliver the Music curriculum to all ages. We have a strong intake of pupils at GCSE and are presently running A level Music to both Years 12 and 13. There is another full-time teacher in the department as well as a range of peripatetic teachers delivering lessons to our pupils.
We are a popular, oversubscribed and successful school. In September 2020 we became an all-through school with the introduction of an Early Years Foundation Stage class (Reception) and we are now up to Year 2. It is imperative that we ensure our pupils access a curriculum which is relevant and ambitious throughout their journey at Cromwell.
At Cromwell, our staff are determined, resourceful and tireless in their pursuit of the best outcomes for all pupils. Staff are hardworking, enthusiastic and committed. This is an excellent time to join the department to support the college’s drive to become outstanding. In September 2022 we began delivering Music Technology qualifications and we would be excited to hear from candidates with experience in delivering this.
If you are enthusiastic, ambitious and passionate about music and recognise its importance for the development of all pupils from Early Years to Sixth Form, and will strive to provide excellent results in our already successful faculty, we would like to hear from you.
Cromwell Community College offers the chance to join a strong and experienced team and for you to develop your skills and enhance your career development through a wealth of CPD opportunities which is a particular strength of the Trust.
The Academy and the Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We expect all staff to actively share this commitment. All appointments will be subject to the taking of satisfactory references and enhanced criminal record clearance in line with the need to create and maintain a safe culture in our recruitment.
Applicants are thanked for their interest in Cromwell Community College. Please note that only candidates shortlisted for interview will be contacted. We are unable to accept CVs.

Ofsted report
“Pupils enjoy a wide choice of subjects suited to their abilities and interests. The most able pupils are steered towards three sciences, humanities and foreign languages to enable more of them to gain the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) qualification. A small proportion of less-able pupils follow a curriculum matched to their needs and abilities in order to develop their literacy and numeracy, promote their social skills and study qualifications suited to the workplace.”
