Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the West Sussex High Weald, Worth Abbey is an English Benedictine monastery, a sanctuary where the Gospel of Christ is lived and shared in fraternity, prayer and service. Founded in 1933, and an independent monastery from 1957, Worth Abbey is a spiritual, pastoral, and cultural centre for the locality and more widely. At its heart is a community of Catholic monks following the Rule of St. Benedict. The Abbey Church is the central feature of an Abbey campus which also houses Worth School, a Catholic Independent day and boarding school, the Abbey Retreat Centre, the Worth Abbey RC Parish, and some 500 acres of quiet gardens, forest, and farmland which are home to a campsite, a livery stable and a working farm.

The Role 

Reporting to: The Abbot 

You will work with and support the Abbot of Worth, in his strategic and day-to-day leadership and management of the monastery and realisation of Worth Abbey’s aims. The successful candidate will also lead and/or contribute to projects agreed with the Abbot. 

About you 

You should have experience working as a personal assistant to a senior leader and communicating messages across multiple channels. 

You should have:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Adobe
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of constructing and handling data in MS Excel and Access

Ideally you will also have experience of website and social media management, co-ordinating events, and an understanding of how GDPR and PECR legislation impacts communications.
