An extensive Personal Assistant (PA) and administrative role that plays a critical part in the organisation by providing support to the Director of Finance and Operations (DoFO), who is responsible for the financial and operations management of both Bridewell Schools.

The PA will be responsible for making the DoFO’s diary manageable through regular review to ensure the priorities are met.

The PA will be an active member of the Bursars Core Team, additionally consisting of the Deputy Bursar, Head of HR and Estates Bursar. Contributing to strategic and operational planning and implementation as appropriate to ensure smooth and efficient operation at both King Edward’s and Barrow Hills Schools.

The PA will be a key point of contact for Bridewell Governors and will support in all governor related matters. This includes assisting in the collation of and preparation of board papers, distributing papers to the board and senior management, and providing secretarial and administration support to the Treasurer (Chair of Governors) as required.

The PA will act as a primary point of contact for staff, parents and other key stakeholders. This requires dealing with queries in a polite, timely and confidential manner. Additionally, the PA will be responsible for managing the DoFO’s correspondence, including emails, letters and reports.

The PA will be responsible for a range of administrative duties, including devising and maintaining office systems, including data management and filing, supporting in the preparation of agendas, briefing papers, minutes, letters, reports, presentations and other documents, arranging travel, accommodation and other bookings on behalf of the DoFO, and providing occasional administrative support to the Deputy Bursar and Head of HR.

The role demands a confidential approach to the objectives and deliverables in an at times challenging and changing environment.

King Edward's Witley is a co-educational boarding and day school for some 470 pupils, around 30% of whom are full or weekly boarders. It caters for boys and girls, with main entry points at 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form. Around 31% of students are from abroad, from around 40 different countries. There is a Sixth Form of 98, most of who go on to universities, including Oxford and Camb. At the same time the curriculum is deliberately broad and suitable for pupils of differing abilities. The School has become known for its innovative approach and offers both the International Baccalaureate and A-levels in the Sixth Form.

The Area: King Edward’s Witley occupies 100 woodland acres on the edge of Witley, a village on the borders of Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. It is about twelve miles from Guildford and four miles from Godalming. Witley station is on the Portsmouth to Waterloo railway line and the journey from London takes just under an hour by train. The School is 45 minutes by taxi from both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The area is a noted beauty spot and the School is surrounded by woodland, heathland and commons. Local amenities include the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford and the School is within close proximity of London and the south coast. There are good shopping facilities in Haslemere, Godalming and Guildford.
