ABOUT THE COLLEGE

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful and innovative sixth form college. The College was awarded the UK Sixth Form College of the Year by the TES in 2018 and this followed being graded outstanding in all areas by OFSTED in December 2016. All staff play a vital role in the experience that students have with us and ultimately their success.

The College currently has a 16 to 19-year-old student population of 1400 and is oversubscribed. Consequently, the College is embarking on an expansion project for 2019/2020 as student applications continue to increase year on
year. The College Senior Management Team is made up of three senior leaders: the Principal, Deputy Principal and the Assistant Principal.

The College is committed to its core values of Positivity, Ambition, Resilience and Thoughtfulness, and these values shape everything we do. Our ethos is centred on the scientific evidence that tells us that everyone can achieve success through purposeful hard work as opposed to the talent myth, and as such, the College is in itself an engine for social mobility.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The main purpose of the role is to support the Deputy Principal to allow him to fulfil his roles and responsibilities effectively. This will involve dealing with highly sensitive matters and maintaining confidentiality at all times. The nature of tasks you will complete will be varied from day to day, responding to the College needs. Below gives a sense of the range of responsibilities involved in the role but is not exhaustive.

  • To act as Personal Assistant to the Deputy Principal, supporting in the delivery of his responsibilities
  • To manage the Deputy Principal’s diary and co-ordinate with other members of the Senior Management Team
  • To arrange and record meetings involving the Deputy Principal including student disciplinary meetings, parent meetings and curriculum meetings
  • To deal with enquiries from parents as and when appropriate
  • To take a lead in the organisation of whole College events run by the Deputy Principal – awards evenings, parents’ information evenings, etc
  • To undertake projects for the Deputy Principal

The position is ideal for any individual who wants to work in an innovative and supportive work place where no two days are the same and where your day to day work is highly rewarding. Whilst the role has prescribed hours, Monday to
Friday, there will be times when flexibility will be required to work outside of these hours when urgent matters arise and at arranged events that occur outside of the College day (this time can be claimed back).

The role would suit someone who is enthusiastic, organised and can communicate with a range of different people (parents, students, senior management etc). Flexibility and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines are also key attributes for this role.
