We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Teacher who is passionate about learning and who will add quality to our excellent team. You should be of Qualified teacher status, you will deliver a specialised and differentiated curriculum for students with the aim of supporting transition in to School.

You will:

  • Further develop and contribute to the schools 3 C ethos -building character and developing innovation through creative practice and research.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experiences that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Ensure all baseline assessments are completed for all new students and support young people to transition into a class group. In addition you will deliver intervention sessions as directed by the head teacher.

Hurworth House School is a specialist SEND provision working with children and young people from the age of 5 – 19 years.  This is an exciting opportunity to work within a SEND environment which provides a blended academic and therapeutic approach.  The school employs a professional and experienced therapy team who work in partnership to provide specialist education for young people with a wide range of complex difficulties and autism.  Hurworth is committed to developing character through creative and innovative practice.

Hurworth House is a specialist day school located near Darlington for boys and girls aged 7 to 19 years who have complex learning difficulties including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). The young people may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their difficulties.

The newly refurbished school has been specifically designed to educate young people with complex needs and associated behaviours. Hurworth House can provide places for up to 40 young people. Placements are flexible, including extended day options, for 38 weeks of the year. Many of the young people referred to the school will have a Statement of Special Educational Need, although this is not an admission requirement.
