Job overview

We are seeking a part-time Personal Tutor to join our Student Services team. You will be responsible for three or four tutor groups with the aim of helping them settle into college, monitoring their overall progress, delivering our tutorial programme and helping them prepare to move on after their courses. You will meet your tutees once a week in groups and individually from time to time. Because students take many different combinations of subjects, as a tutor you will be responsible for their overall progress, including monitoring their attendance, discussing reports and liaising with their families. You will be working closely with the Student Services Director, a Senior Tutor and the rest of the team in a very supportive and friendly environment.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills who is able to work under pressure and use their own initiative. Sound word-processing skills, ICT competency and excellent communication skills are essential.

The salary will be on the sixth form colleges’ support staff salary scale between points 29 and 32, depending on experience. This works out between £23,170 and £25,445 pro-rata per annum, plus London weighting £2,505 pro-rata, per annum. The actual salary is shown above.
