Salary: A&T Salaries Scale 11-15 (Pro-rata)

Contract: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only, 8.00am till 4.00pm

 

The College seeks to appoint a Personal Tutor to join our experienced team of colleagues who will lead and be responsible for several groups of 16 to 18 year old's delivering personal and bespoke support to your tutees as an advisor, coach and personal mentor. The College is located in beautiful grounds in Harrow on the Hill and you will be working and be supported by an experienced team of middle and senior leaders.   St. Dominic’s is an ‘outstanding’ Sixth Form College and is heavily over-subscribed with 1400 learners on roll.   This is a permanent post subject to the usual probationary conditions.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

·        Delivering the RSHE program to students during 1 hour, weekly tutorials

·        Monitor attendance and punctuality of tutor classes

·        Assist and guide students through career and UCAS choices

·        Provide pastoral support to students when required

·        Maintain positive links between the College, the students, parents/guardians and other outside agencies

·        Help and support with College events and programs like Enrolment, Induction, parent/teacher evenings etc

·        Complete Career specific CPD (e.g. Coaching, Mental Health First Aid, Growth Mindset, Oracy in the Classroom etc)

About You:

·        You have a degree or a relevant qualification, and an interest in furthering a career in education, counselling, tutoring or public service

·        You have excellent inter and intra personal skills

·        You have a high attention to detail

·        You have high quality written and verbal communication

·        You are proactive and able to work to your own initiative

·        You have an adaptable personality and thrive working in a busy team environment

·        You have strong IT skills with competency in Microsoft Office

·        Experience within the education sector or tutoring experience is advantageous

St. Dominic's is the longest established centre for Catholic post-16 education in the Diocese of Westminster. The College provides a wide choice of GCE A, Applied A and AS courses. In addition, BTEC Level 3/ Extended Diploma (Edexcel)

All students are fully supported by Personal Tutors in preparation for employment or higher education. The College provides a Religious Education programme for all students. The Course is accredited by the National Open College Network and students are awarded a Level 1 in Year 12 and a Level 2 Year 13. The examination success rate is outstanding and the vast majority of students progress to higher education.  A wide range of extra-curricular activities is available. 

There is easy access by Metropolitan/Piccadilly lines, British Rail and local bus services.
