Richard Atkins is a two-form entry school with an Extended School/Community Centre which serves a vibrant and diverse local community. The Governors, staff, pupils and parents are seeking to appoint a Phase Leader, with a key area of responsibility, who can inspire, motivate and challenge pupils to achieve the highest levels of progress and attainment.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • good or better teaching that challenges and inspires pupils to learn and achieve

The school had its last Ofsted Inspection in July 2022. The inspector described Richard Atkins as a school where “Pupils are proud members of their community. They are happy and safe here. They have great respect for each other, which is rooted in school values. Behaviour is calm and orderly, in class and around the school.”

The school is housed in a Grade II listed building built in 1897. It is listed for its architectural excellence. Despite its age the school is in very good condition with light, airy classrooms and space for physical activities.
