The school

AGS is a truly Global School situated in the beautiful country of Oman. The school operates an adapted British curriculum to suit the needs of the 34 nationalities of children currently catered for in the school. We are proud to be one of few schools that has an Independent Preparatory and Senior School system and the ethos and philosophy of all that we do is comparable to similar schools in the UK

We are part of the Al Najah group of schools. Al Najah has a strong reputation for delivering a quality education across the Middle East and beyond.

Living in Muscat

Oman is a welcoming, politically stable and friendly country. It has beautiful scenery, wonderful beaches, a very rich culture, and a sunny climate that enables a wide range of outdoor activities to be pursued throughout the year. It is also well situated for travel to other locations around the world.

It is hot and humid in the Coastal areas in summer; while it is hot and dry in the interior with the exception of the higher mountains, which enjoy a moderate climate throughout the year. Rainfall is generally light and irregular; although heavy rains and thunderstorms can cause flooding.

Teachers at AGS will be:

  • Passionate, enthusiastic, innovative and ready to embrace the challenges and excitement of an International teaching career in the Middle East.
  • Qualified to degree level in the chosen subject and hold a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Able to demonstrate outstanding standards of teaching and learning.
  • An exceptional communicator with the ability to work with students and parents alike.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop and further existing knowledge and skills.

Experience of teaching in an Independent School setting would be an advantage, as would experience of working in the Middle East. However, a genuine commitment to support the school’s ethos along with a willingness and flexibility to adapt, would compensate. Experience of using effective differentiation and assessment techniques are, however, essential.

What we offer:

We are committed to developing our staff and provide professional development opportunities both in-house and via external provision.

We provide excellent, high quality accommodation for teaching staff during their first year of contract. We offer an attractive tax-free salary, medical insurance and an annual flight allowance.

The Application Process

Please complete the online application form.

Interviews will be held via Skype on a rolling basis.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Safeguarding

AGS is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check will be  required for the post. We reserve the right to close this vacancy should we receive an overwhelming  response.

A’soud Global School (AGS) is a co-educational international school, located in the Al Seeb area of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. The school, which opened in September 2016, uses the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and the Cambridge International Curriculum with Cambridge IGCSE ad A’Levels as our examination outcomes.

The curriculums are adapted to suit the requirements of children in our international setting. It also includes the teaching of Arabic tailored so all students can learn at their level and we offer Islamic Education for Muslim members of the school community following the Ministry of Education framework. At the senior end of the school, students follow a combination of IGCSE and ‘A’ Levels chosen from an extensive range of subjects.

The pupils’ education takes place within state-of-the-art facilities, including spacious classrooms, outdoor multi-games courts, swimming and splash pools, an indoor multi-purpose sports hall, a library, ICT rooms, music rooms, art and drama rooms, and science laboratories.

A strong focus on performing at your very best is also enhanced through sporting, theatre, and life skills opportunities outside of the school, both locally and internationally. Our aim to ensure that all students not only excel in examination outcomes but also develop into well-rounded individuals.

AGS staff are a mix of highly qualified British teachers and locally employed staff all sharing the goal of providing the best educational experiences and opportunities for the children.

Headmaster
