Job overview

The position of Physical Education Teacher reports to the Director of Sport (immediate) and Upper School Principal. The main purpose of the job is teaching Physical Education at Brookes Moscow through working with children of varying abilities in lessons, assisting with swimming and ensuring maintenance and set up of equipment for lessons.

Requirements

• Previous experience of working in a sporting environment;

• Teaching qualification;

• University degree in a sport related topic (desirable);

• Qualifications in coaching sport, especially football, volleyball basketball, tennis or swimming

(desirable);

• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and demonstrate flexibility in lessons;

• Ability to bring a high level of enthusiasm and energy into lessons;

• Fluency in English is a must;

• Proficiency in computer literacy and able to contribute to PE media within the school;

• Must be prepared to work outside of school hours and at weekends for sports tournaments

and training;

• Willingness to lead and support school teams in football, basketball, athletics, volleyball, tennis

or swimming;

• Ability to teach across a range of age groups (2 years – 17 years).


Responsibilities

• To work with the PE staff to ensure high quality PE lessons by adapting what is being taught to suit individual learning needs of students;

• To help with swimming lessons, both though teaching of pupils and ensuring safety;

• To work with the PE staff in ensuring maintenance and inventory of all PE equipment;

• To work with the PE staff in setting up equipment for PE lessons;

• To be aware of safety in all environments;

• To support the use of ICT in the department and contribute to PE media;

• To work with the PE staff in coaching sports teams in the school and engage in the school’s

extra-curricular sports programme;

• Be a sporting role model to the students and contribute to a strong sporting ethos within the

school;

• To liaise with director of sport to coach teams and be available to support fixtures and

tournaments;

• Correspond with parents to report progress in lessons and teams and create sporting ethos

among the families of our school.
