Physics Teacher
The post is part-time permanent position for a teacher with enthusiasm and drive who wishes to work in an academic sixth form college. The minimum contract will be 0.5 FTE although it is expected that the actual fraction will be around 0.7 FTE for the academic year 2018-19. The College is fully committed to supporting all members of staff through continuing professional development and in-service training.
There are currently 164 students studying Physics in year 12 and 130 students in year 13, taught by two full time and two part time teachers, supported by a team of science technicians. Physics at King Edward's follows the OCR specification. In addition to timetabled lessons, subject staff work with students in additional workshop time to support students and to enable them to complete their Practical Endorsement. Additional classes are offered as part of a Maths for Physicists programme for students not studying A Level Mathematics, and students entering the Physics Olympiad are able to participate in additional extension classes, whilst those applying to study Physics at Oxbridge receive additional coaching for the PAT. The majority of our students choose to attend university after their time at college, with many studying courses in Physics and Engineering.
