James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts is seeking to appoint experienced and enthusiastic teachers in piano and possibly composition from 10 September 2022. The successful candidates will have experience both as a performer and teacher. A particular interest in teaching beginners up to Grade 5 is of an advantage, although the ability to teach 1:1 composition and theory to all levels is also advantageous.

Lessons take place in Dulwich on term time Saturdays; see our calendar for 2022-23 dates.

Hours: We are offering 3+ hours of teaching, with the potential for hours to increase as the year progresses. It is not essential to want to grow the hours, but the option is there to do so. Established teachers at Jasspa can teach for up to 6.5 hours/Saturday.

Pay: £39/hour (Hourly rate is inclusive of holiday pay).

Application deadline: 10th August 2022

Interviews: from 10th August 2022

The School

Based at James Allen’s Girls’ School, Jasspa is a school passionate about the performing arts. We offer specialist music tuition in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere on term time Saturdays in Dulwich.  Pupils aged 6-18 can choose any combination of classes from a broad range of instrumental lessons, theory, ensembles and choirs including our new Community Choir for adults and pupils aged 14+.  There are almost 30 teachers at Jasspa.

Due to Covid we have paused our Saturday Dance and Drama classes for 2021-22, instead offering a range of Dance and Drama holiday intensives.

Jasspa is also the home of South London Youth Orchestra – four orchestras from beginner to advanced level who meet for orchestral holiday courses three times a year. In the summer, winter and spring breaks 300+ music students from across London and the South East, come together to work with outstanding tutors and conductors from the profession.

All Saturday and Holiday courses take place at James Allen’s Girls’ School where we have full access to purpose built facilities including the Prissian Theatre, the Vaughan Williams Auditorium and Holst Hall.

Whilst Jasspa is an organisation with the community very much at its heart, we are also a centre of excellence. Quality performing arts education in a positive, nurturing environment is what we do best.
