Whitefield Academy Trust, located in Waltham Forest, comprises of Joseph Clarke School; for children with a vision impairment and /or additional needs and Whitefield School; for pupils with complex needs including autism, learning difficulties and sensory and physical impairments.
Working across the Trust, we harness the specialist expertise of all our teams in order to deliver an outstanding school experience which combines high standards of teaching and learning with excellent pastoral care.
Through our Professional Development Services, we have an international reputation as experts in SEND provision. We offer a range of training opportunities to teachers and support staff across London and the south east including Foundation Degrees, Initial Teacher Training as well as a number of short courses and talks.
We are also the London Borough of Waltham Forest’s chosen provider of Specialist Education Outreach Services and, as such, work with mainstream schools across the borough helping children and young people with SEND access the full curriculum.
The Role
We are looking to appoint full-time specialist practitioners to work with our pupils promoting Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) throughout the Trust.
You will have a good understanding of the barriers to learning that those with SEND face as well as a positive approach to supporting pupils who display behaviours which cause concern.
You will be responsible for undertaking functional assessments of behaviour of concern, supporting in the development and review of Positive and Proactive Support Plans, providing training and guidance on supporting pupils with behaviours of concern. You will undertake training to become a PBS coach and a Team Teach trainer and will promote these approaches across the school. You will assist and support staff in preventing and managing behaviour of concern and model good practice. You will ensure accurate records are kept and provide a regular analysis of trends or patterns of behaviour.
