Brighton College is seeking to appoint two Post-Graduate Assistant Teachers (PGATS). The start date for this role is anticipated to be January 2020. This is a fixed-term post of one or two terms, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

This would be a great opportunity for a recent graduate in any academic discipline to gain skills and experience in the fast-paced and dynamic educational environment of the UK’s top co-educational school.

Those on a gap year prior to an undergraduate degree would also be considered. Responsibilities would be tailored to the strengths of the successful candidates, but could include;

  • Involvement with practical activities such as drama, sport or music, according to each applicant’s particular interests
  • Assistance in supervising off-site trips and/or the boarding programme
  • Small-group tutorials for pupils requiring additional help and consolidation in preparation for GCSE or A-level examinations
  • Delivering extension sessions for Sixth Form pupils in preparation for university entrance
  • The opportunity to observe some lessons and, if desired, to team-teach.

We are particularly interested in those who might be able to contribute in a meaningful way to the College’s games programme at what is an exciting time for Brighton’s sport, with the opening in January 2020 of the world-class School of Science and Sport. Preference would be given to those able to offer coaching in one of the College’s core sports – hockey, netball, football, rugby and/or athletics.
