Join our Inspectorate team and work with schools, teachers, students and parents to promote excellence in learning, teaching and students’ educational experiences.
The Inspectorate, a Division of the Department of Education, has statutory responsibility for the evaluation of the quality of teaching and learning in schools and centres for education. The Inspectorate works to improve the quality of teaching and learning for children and young people in Irish Early Learning and Care (ELC) settings, schools and centres for education. It also supports the development of the Irish educational system through providing high quality evaluation, analysis, support and advice in relation to the quality of educational provision.
Post-Primary Inspectors:
- Evaluate and report on the work of post-primary schools and centres for education;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of school curricula and of specific educational programmes;
- Advise teachers, in-school management and school boards of management on the promotion and achievement of excellence in school leadership and management, teaching and learning, and effective engagement in school self-evaluation.
- Collaborate on initiatives that encourage creativity, innovation, critical thinking and student voice in schools in line with Department of Education strategies for system improvement.
Panels will be formed from which vacancies may be filled across the Inspectorate’s five regional locations.
