Job Title: Premises Assistant

Hours: Term Time, 27.5 hours per week. Mon-Fri 09:30 – 15:30, including 30 mins unpaid lunch.

Salary: £14,661 - £17,578 per annum including holiday pay.

Lancing College Preparatory School at Worthing is situated in approximately two acres of grounds in Broadwater, an area north of Worthing. The school is sited in a Grade II listed building with the oldest part of the building dating back some five hundred years. The Manor of Broadwater is mentioned in the Domesday Book. 


Duties will include:

• Carry out portering duties as required.

• Carry out daytime cleaning as required which may include cleaning of toilets and cleaning up of bodily fluids in a safe manner.

• Assist the Premises Officer in refuse and recycling collections.

• Assist the Premises Officer in the clearing of grounds, footpaths and drives of loose stones, mud, broken glass, litter, weeds, animal waste and snow/ice as required.

• Ensure that the ‘front of house’ areas of the school are kept to a high standard.

• Report any damage or maintenance issues to the Premises Officer or using the FRS system.

• Support for Parent Evenings as and when required.

• Support evening club needs.

• Set up and down lunch hall, daily.

• Fire Warden checks as required.

• Carry out any testing as required; Fire Alarm call point testing, emergency light testing etc.

• Assist with water flushing regime to comply with water management strategy.

• Painting and decorating to refresh school areas as and when agreed with Manager and school Head.

• Carrying out minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrics related jobs to a good standard.


Skills and experience required:

• Previous experience of working in a school environment.

• Previous maintenance experience.

• Ability to undertake movement of furniture and equipment.

• Ability to use email.


The closing date for applications is midday Tuesday 23rd August 2022 although applications may be reviewed on receipt.  

Interviews are scheduled to take place week commencing 29th August 2022.
