We need an exceptional person as our Premises Manager to join our team at Avanti Court Primary who will support ensuring the site and premises are safe, secure and well organised so that our children have the very best learning environment.

Avanti Court Primary School is a faith designated (Hindu) state school. Staff and students at the school do not originate from any specific faith background and applications are welcome from practitioners of any faith and from those of none.

The staff at Avanti Court Primary School are passionate about our school and are relentlessly focused on improving the achievement and opportunities for all our pupils. What will you do?

  • To be responsible for the general maintenance, cleanliness and security of the school and to maintain the premises (both internally and externally) in a clean, safe, sound and secure condition for staff, pupils, parents and community users.
  • To be the main key holder and to be responsible for the maintenance of keys and the electronic alarm system and be the first respondent to emergency call outs. This includes the routine and non-routine opening and closing of the school and the setting of alarms; ensuring that the school is locked and secure, with fire doors and all windows closed at the end of the school day and after any school functions, lettings or community use
  • Supervising Contractors as appropriate, regarding access to the site, monitor and log the progress of the work and ensuring that work is carried out to the required standard, as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for a regular schedule of inspections throughout the buildings, and action plans for modifications and improvements. Alerting the head teacher to any work that needs to be undertaken or any issues where health and safety is at risk. This includes lighting, ventilation, time keeping, fire-fighting equipment and heating systems.
  • To prioritise and undertake the programme of minor works at the school, taking into account urgent need and health and safety issues e.g. locks, windows, gutters and paintwork.

What are we looking for?

  • Ability to organise one’s own work, to prioritise tasks and keep to deadlines
  • The know-how to assess and carry out minor repairs and maintenance independently and commission experts where required
  • Relevant certification of practical skills and knowledge
  • Ability to apply basic ICT skills to the needs of the job

About Avanti Court Primary School, Redbridge

 Avanti Court is a relatively new Hindu-faith school for boys and girls aged four to eleven. The school was set up in response to demand for primary school places in Redbridge and is set to be a world-class school. In 2014 it received its first Ofsted, giving evidence that this is a good school with a growing ambition.Based in Redbridge and open to students of any faith and from any borough, Avanti Court offers a broad, challenging curriculum focused on core skills and subjects as well as inspiring a love of Mathematics and Performing Arts. What makes the school distinctive is its values-based approach to the humanities, which encourages pupils to value themselves, others and the environment, empowering them to be effective learners and good citizens. The school also offers opportunities to study ethics, philosophy, Sanskrit (as the root of almost all eastern and western languages), leadership training, meditation and yoga.The school provides places for 840 children (by 2018), with 120 children in each year group as well as a Nursery. We aim to develop a small school model so that every child is well known, challenged and inspired to be the best they can be. The school serves a diverse community in which people from all background, faith and other world views are welcomed who are interested in their child having a Hindu-influenced educational experience.As a state-funded school there are no fees.iFoundation is the religious authority (Hindu) for the school. iFoundation draws upon the teachings of Krishna Chaitanya as practised by ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
