Job overview

About Days Lane Primary School:

Days Lane Primary School is a popular over-subscribed standalone academy with an inclusive, caring and stimulating learning environment for approximately 670 children. The large school site is located on ground level, with a large playing field, and separate nursery and gym. We offer high standards in education and have wonderful children, dedicated staff and strong partnerships with parents/carers. We believe in developing pupils with the skills to be great learners through a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. For a virtual tour of the school and further information, please visit: https://www.dayslaneprimary.co.uk.

Your Opportunity:

This is a rare opportunity for a well-motivated and practically experienced individual to join our Premises Team, which consists of five cleaning staff and an experienced Premises Manager who has robust knowledge of the school’s site and procedures.

The successful applicant will be able to evidence and demonstrate a positive, ‘can-do’ and proactive attitude to premises work, particularly for a large primary school site such as Days Lane. There is a genuine opportunity here for the right individual to be upskilled and progress in their career of handywork, premises management and supporting educational sites with health and safety, security, cleaning and compliance.

Practical maintenance skills in areas such as basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and electricity are very desirable for this role. The successful applicant will also need to be reasonably physically fit, as this is an active, hands-on position. They should also be flexible and adaptable, as the role can be varied and demanding, due to the dynamic nature of school life.

In particular, Days Lane can offer:

 • Full support, training and induction to ensure that the successful applicant is fully equipped for success in the role

• One to one training with the experienced Premises Manager

• Excellent professional development opportunities

• A vibrant school with high standards and expectations

• A welcoming community where you will be supported and valued

Your Application:

To apply for this role, please send completed applications to recruitment@dayslaneprimary.co.uk for the attention of Mr McCallum, by the deadline of 9am on Monday 25 October. Please ensure all applications are typed and emailed to the address given. Any candidates not submitting their application as stated will not be considered.

References will be requested for those shortlisted only, and prior to interview.

Candidates should also carefully note that the school reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate prior to the advertised deadline for applications, should the appropriate individual be found in this time. As such, all interested persons are strongly encouraged to express their interest and apply as soon as they are able.

Visits to the school are welcome and will be offered from 3.30pm for the next two weeks on Wednesday (13th Oct, 20th Oct) and Friday (15th Oct, 22nd Oct).

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment are subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure and other employment checks. The school is also committed to equality and diversity in employment practice and service delivery.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school  therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.

The school is committed to equality and diversity in employment practice and service delivery.
