We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Prep School SENDCO to join our team for three days per week. This is an exceptional opportunity for a developing professional to gain valuable experience under the guidance of our Whole-School Director of SEND and Prep leadership team, within a warm, supportive, and forward-thinking school environment. 

The Role 

As Prep SENDCO, you will coordinate provision for pupils with SEND across the Prep School, working closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies. You will contribute to planning and reviewing support, lead small-group and specialist sessions, and ensure the effective implementation of Pupil Support Plans and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Leadership & Coordination: 

The SENDCO will support SEND provision across the Prep School under the guidance of the SEND Director and Prep leadership team, contributing actively to whole school strategy and inclusive practice. They will lead and manage a small team of LSAs, ensuring their effective deployment and professional development. Working closely alongside class teachers, the SENDCO will help to embed high quality teaching and tailored support for pupils with a wide range of needs, promoting strong outcomes and an inclusive learning environment throughout the Prep School school strategy and inclusive practice. Working With Teaching Staff: 

  • Provide guidance on differentiation and inclusive strategies. 

  • Collaborate on assessments and pupil progress reviews. 

  • Support planning meetings and contribute to staff CPD. 

  • Model best practice and help embed SEND into curriculum planning. 

Creating and Managing LSA Timetables: 

  • Design weekly timetables ensuring effective deployment. 

  • Balance 1:1, small-group, and in-class support. 

  • Adjust timetables flexibly based on daily needs 

  • Provide feedback and coaching to LSAs. 

In-Class Support: 

  • Provide direct support to individuals and groups. 

  • Model inclusive teaching strategies. 

  • Adapt activities and resources in real time 

  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation. 

Pupil Observations: 

  • Conduct both formal and informal observations. 

  • Gather evidence to inform support planning and referrals. 

  • Contribute to EHCP processes and annual reviews. 

  • Monitor intervention impact through follow-up observations. 

 

Administration & Record Keeping: 

  • Maintain accurate SEND records on the school’s information system. 

  • Track progress and monitor intervention effectiveness. 

  • Ensure statutory compliance and organised documentation.
