The Preparatory School Secretary will provide an extensive and confidential secretarial and administrative service for the Head Master and senior staff of the Preparatory School. 

Key duties include responding to queries from pupils, parents and visitors, inputting, administrating and reporting from our main database, for instance, the records of morning registration of pupils.

Based from the school office at the heart of ‘The Prep School’, the successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be discreet, articulate, numerate, possess an excellent telephone manner and show attention to detail. The ability to remain calm and focussed in this busy office is of prime importance, together with being flexible in your approach to constantly changing situations, and welcoming and professional at all times to visitors including parents and pupils.  Significant experience as a secretary and office administrator, knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Google Mail/Drive, with the ability to use the College database and the Internet, is required. 

This is a full time (35 hours per week) position, for 37 weeks of the year.  Flexibility in working hours is required in order to support the Preparatory School at peak times in the school calendar. In return, time off in lieu in quieter periods such as outside of term-time, would be granted.

Clifton College Preparatory School (known locally as 'The Pre') is the region’s largest boarding and day preparatory school for 400 girls and boys aged 8 to 13. 

Bristol businessman Dr John Percival, who championed the benefits of science, diversity and the education of women, founded Clifton College in 1862. The college has since fostered the talents of students including General Douglas Haig and Olympic hockey gold medallist Lily Owsley. The NSPCC had its first meeting on the school’s grounds.
