Teachers at Westminster are highly professional persons who demonstrate the highest standards of personal presentation, preparation for teaching and learning, punctuality and student management. Successful candidates will demonstrate passion for and experience in teaching Primary students, the ability to produce exemplary student learning outcomes and build positive relationships with managers, peers, staff parents and students.
Key Responsibilities include:
- To maintain a classroom environment which is stimulating, focused and engaging, and which reflects the School’s values and ethos.
- To effectively teach the prescribed curriculum using appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
- To assess student work and grade student performance accurately and promptly in line with agreed policies and procedures, and to moderate assessment tasks with other staff at their year level.
- To prepare reports on students at both formal and informal levels, using verbal and written communications.
- Keep abreast of trends and developments in pedagogy.
- Cater for, and be inclusive of, the diverse needs of learners.
- Participate as a partner in planning, implementing and evaluating School policies relating to curriculum. D
- emonstrate and sustain a high level of professional knowledge.
- Incorporate the essential knowledge and skills of the Australian curriculum into teaching and learning programs and align these with the Westminster framework.
Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Demonstrated passion for, and experience in, teaching Primary students
- Innovative and exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes
- High level of ICT skills, knowledge and effective incorporation into classroom practice, including 1:1 laptop program
- The capacity to cater for students with a range of abilities and learning styles within the classroom and to monitor, and respond to, student progress.
- The capability to work co-operatively with students, staff and parents to produce the best learning outcomes for students.
- Regular and up to date professional knowledge and learning Involvement at relevant professional organisations

- A high level of organisational ability: is flexible and can prioritise and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environment
- High level of communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills which enable positive relationships to be built with managers, peers, staff, parents and students

- A commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement

Academic Overview
At Westminster, we aspire to provide every student with an exceptional all-round education. We are a leader in education and offer an extensive range of subjects (currently around 40 in Year 12).
The Melbourne Declaration, made by all Australian Education Ministers in 2008, set two goals to be met; the first that Australian schooling promotes equity and excellence; the second that all young Australians become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, active and informed citizens.
Everything we do here at Westminster aligns with these basic principles. Our curriculum gives students every opportunity to achieve their own excellence. We continually revitalise our curriculum across all year levels to ensure it is current and relevant, addresses the capabilities required by ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority) and meets the requirements of the SA Certificate of Education (SACE).
As students progress through school, they need greater choice to create their own adventures.
