Job overview

Community Department

One Year Fixed-Term Contract (subject to annual renewal)
Full-time, 37 hours per week: Grade 7

Prevent is part of CONTEST, the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy. The aim of Prevent is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. We do this by challenging terrorist ideology; supporting vulnerable people and supporting sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation. We need to respond to tackle all forms of extremism - including both far right threats and Al Qaeda/Daesh inspired threats.

The education sector has a vital role to play in the successful delivery of Prevent objectives.

We are looking for a highly skilled professional to be responsible for supporting schools across all key stages and education personnel within the local area to deliver Prevent activity in order to increase young people’s resilience to terrorism.

You should have prior experience in the education sector, with good political awareness as well as excellent communication skills, and have the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Due to the nature of this post, it is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and an enhanced DBS check will be carried out.

If you have any questions, or would like an informal discussion about the role, please call Daniel Sullivan, Community Safety & Prevent Coordinator on 01494 421371.

We offer a generous benefits package including flexible working and pension scheme.
