Slough Borough Council is committed to safeguarding our children, young people and vulnerable adults. We want Slough to be a place where people can make good choices about where to live and work and where children can grow up to achieve their full potential.

‘Prevent’ is part of ‘Contest’ the Government’s Counter Terrorism Strategy. The Prevent strand is to stop people from becoming terrorists or being drawn into terrorism and supports vulnerable people and sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation. We need to respond to tackle all forms of extremism - including both Islamist extremist and far right threats.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate for this high-profile role. You will be responsible working with schools and other educational establishments on ‘Prevent’ education work. We are looking for a confident and resilient person who has the skills and ability to develop and coordinate activities to prevent extremist activity and work with schools and other partners to support those at risk of being drawn into extremism.

You will need to be politically astute and be able to work with a wide range of partner organisations. You will have excellent communication, engagement and influencing skills and be able to manage projects.

You will need to undergo enhanced security checks prior to appointment.

Secondments from the education / schools sector are encouraged, although on a full-time, not term time only basis.
