It’s an exciting time to join Ark Academy. Our staff are striving to maintain our outstanding reputation achieved in our last Ofsted inspection.

Our school is a two-form primary school that is part of an all-through primary and secondary academy. Our mission is that all children will be able to go to university or have the career of their choice. We are a supportive environment where expectations of staff and pupils are very high.

We passionately believe in improving the quality of teaching in our school and this role is a crucial part of that. We want our strongest teachers to lead from the front, driving school improvement from the perspective of highly effective classroom delivery. The role is a challenging one but we can offer excellent training, development and support.

We are looking for great teachers that are passionate about improving their teaching, developing their careers and – most importantly – having a real impact on young children’s lives. This role will allow more experienced teachers to continue to hone their craft in the classroom as well as be a leader, coach and mentor to the teachers in their team.

Key responsibilities:

- Class teaching

- Leadership of a core subject in the school

- Leadership of a phase team: Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 or Upper     key stage 2

- Full role in the Senior Leadership Team

The ideal candidate will be:

  • an individual with the commitment to driving standards and ensuring every child is challenged to achieve their maximum potential
  • a teacher with experience of raising attainment of all pupils in a challenging classroom environment
  • a professional who is able to work in partnership with parents and other stakeholders
  • an excellent communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.

As a member of Ark Academy you will receive extensive professional development geared towards excellence. We don’t do ‘training for the sake of training.’ Weekly sessions designed by those who understand the context of the school, are ensured to cater for our teachers’ every need.

In addition, the school provides continual support and career progression. Numerous comprehensive training programmes are available to our staff from NQTs to aspiring middle and senior leaders.

Our successful behaviour policies treat student behaviour not as the responsibility of individual teachers, but of the entire  school.   This ensures as a teacher at Ark Academy, your time is never wasted dealing with discipline. Our students know what is expected of them, allowing both students and teachers to focus on learning.

As a teacher at Ark Academy, you will be part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK's most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 35 schools in 4 locations across the country. Benefits of being part of the Ark network include:

  • A salary 2.5% higher than the main scale teacher salaries

In order to deliver the best training and network events, we offer twice as many training days as standard.

We maintain a happy, respectful and orderly environment throughout the academy. We believe that we share the responsibility for developing and nurturing the personal qualities of every pupil and we will teach pupils to be responsible for their actions and their effect on others. We emphasise the importance of good behaviour. Our values programme, meal times, manners and behaviour expectations are important parts of our education programme. Good behaviour is praised and unacceptable behaviour dealt with immediately. Children are encouraged to accept responsibility for their actions or behaviour. The Ark Academy Behaviour and Ethos policy creates the conditions for outstanding learning and the encouragement and development of our students into rounded citizens. With 'civitas' - citizenship - the cornerstone of our ethos, our students will be fully aware of their impact on society and potential to be active citizens shaping and leading their community.

Our curriculum is structured to ensure that all children master essential knowledge in these core subjects. Where pupils need extra support it will be provided to ensure that every child can reach and exceed national standards.

Our driving principles are: Excellence, Citizenship, Participation and Persistence.
