Job overview

About Open Sky International

Our first school in Morocco is situated in Oasis, Casablanca. It is one of the first international branches opened by Open Sky International, an ambitious and innovative new schools’ group based in Paris, and other OSI schools will be opening in various locations internationally over the next five years. OSI Casablanca intends to very quickly become one of the best schools in Morocco and our aspirations for our pupils will be high.

The school’s curriculum is broad and incorporates the best aspects of a range of international education systems. In the pre-school (or the maternelle as it is called in French) children follow a programme which is very similar in ethos to the UK Early Years curriculum, and from the primary, all pupils follow a bilingual timetable, taking half of their classes in French and the remainder in English. Arabic is also an important part of the curriculum. Initially, the school is welcoming pupils from the ages of 4 to 11 years old, and it will serve children from both the Moroccan and expatriate communities in Casablanca.

Who are we looking for?

We are now looking for a motivated, creative and hard-working primary teacher to deliver our English language curriculum in literacy, mathematics and science. We are seeking to recruit a teacher who very much enjoys working as a member of a team, always aims to work collaboratively and wants to have a powerful impact on the lives of the children that he or she teaches. Ideally, you will already have previous teaching experience with students whose first language is not English. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the OSI extracurricular programme and other curriculum enrichment activities as required.

The successful candidate will be:

• An excellent practitioner with high expectations for all students and committed to ensuring they reach their full potential.

• An inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes and is experienced in teaching English, mathematics and science at primary level.

• Enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a good understanding of best practice.

• Able to demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach all subject areas with confidence.

• Able to support and promote the values of the school.

• Eager to discover new cultures and ideas, and open to the challenges of living and working abroad.

All successful applicants will have an appropriate qualification, with a PGCE or other qualification leading to approved teacher status. A minimum of four years of experience in teaching the relevant age group is required. As we are a bilingual school, all teachers are required to learn and speak French. For teachers who need support with learning the French language, private lessons with a tutor will be provided by the school.

Why choose us?

OSI offers you the chance to become a part of a committed, international team. We intend to establish further schools to implement our vision for bilingual education over the next few years, and this gives our teachers the opportunity to become part of an exciting new project. In addition, OSI offers a competitive salary.

Open Sky International schools prepare pupils to succeed in a rapidly changing, competitive and multicultural world. We have a real passion for education and our curriculum, teaching and learning methodology are built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula. We have high expectations and standards from the beginning for all children and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. We understand that children are powerful learners, and we are confident that every child will make progress with the right strategies and support. This is why we do not practise selection at the admissions stage; instead, we believe that the role of a school is to enable all of its students to realise their potential.

Our curriculum targets both academic excellence and children’s personal development. We believe that academic excellence is compatible with children being fulfilled at school and respect, work, effort and critical thinking are all core elements of our philosophy.

Mastering languages is the key to cultures and to culture. Our group educational vision is for all pupils to achieve equal oral and written proficiency in French and English by the time they leave school. In Morocco, we also intend for our pupils’ level of Arabic to equal their level of French and English when they finish their studies. In addition, we believe that exposure to international cultures helps children to develop critical thinking and a set of values free of prejudice. We aim to provide children with the tools they will need to make the right choices in an open and globalised world, so that they can succeed in Morocco or elsewhere. Our curriculum framework at all stages has been carefully designed to achieve this vision.
