The British School of Guangzhou has an enviable reputation as a school where children achieve excellent academic results and have a great time doing it. We are looking for Primary specialists who are able to build on this success and help us to achieve our goal of becoming the number one international school in China. They will have excellent people skills and be able to inspire and demonstrate the drive and commitment to make our very good school, even better. 

In August 2020, we open an additional International Primary/EYFS campus, while continuing to provide a K1-Y13 education from our existing site. We currently educate 850 Primary students and from August, parents will benefit from a choice between our existing and our new, purpose-built, campus. This is an exciting stage of development for the British School as we look to build on our reputation as the first-choice international school in Guangzhou. Primary staff will be based in both sites and will liaise, with colleagues, across campuses to ensure a consistent approach to delivering our curriculum and to guide our overall strategic direction within Guangzhou.

THE PERSON: 

The successful applicant will be an effective professional with a thorough knowledge of their curriculum area and relevant teaching experience. You will be instrumental in maintaining or improving our excellent levels of student attainment and progress. Amongst other things, you will be well organised, have a good sense of humour and will be driven to improve quality and develop the school. 

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate confidently to diverse audiences, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. To meet visa-related expectations, you will need to hold a bachelor degree together with a PGCE and QTS qualification and have a minimum of two years relevant experience.  Inspire trust and confidence in pupils and colleagues;

 Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom engage and motivate pupils;

 Demonstrate analytical thinking and improve the quality of pupils' learning; 

 Contribute to school improvement and promote the learning priorities of the school development plans;

 Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school;

 Integrate I Pads into the classroom and be familiar with technology and Interactive whiteboards.

Our existing campus is situation, around 25 minutes from the city and 30 minutes from our new campus. It enjoys picturesque views over South Lake towards a golf course. Specialist facilities include music rooms, a well-equipped fitness room, guided reading rooms, IT zones, a dance studio, libraries, theatre and coffee shop for staff and parents. Outdoor facilities include age-specific football pitches, a swimming pool, basketball courts and an adventure playground.

Both sites benefit from attractively furnished, air-conditioned classrooms with WIFI and an interactive whiteboard.
