The opening of Merchiston Castle International School, China (MCIS) in September 2018 creates an exciting opportunity for a team of innovative and ground-breaking primary teachers to take their careers forward at an exciting new co-educational day and boarding school in Shenzhen, Southern China. 

Merchiston Castle International School

MCIS will offer an innovative British independent school curriculum for international students aged 6 – 18, starting in Key Stage 1 and culminating in IGCSE and GCE A Level. The campus, inspired by the ethos of Merchiston Castle, Edinburgh, is designed to create the kind of innovative learning spaces in which an effective 21st century education can take place.

How to apply

Applicants should apply on line through the TES careers portal.  Please provide the names and full contact details of three referees, one of whom should represent your current employer. 

Short-listed candidates must be able to provide a recent DBS/PVG check, police clearance certificate or similar record of non-criminality demonstrating that there is no reason why they cannot work with children. 

Due to national regulations, it is very unlikely that we will be able to secure a work permit and residence visa for anyone whose 60th birthday takes place between August 1 2018 and July 31 2019. 

The application should be submitted no later than Tuesday November 28th.  

Interviews of short-listed candidates will be held in the UK and Ireland from Monday December 4 to Monday December 11. In certain circumstances, short listed candidates living outside of the UK and Ireland may be invited to interview by Skype if a time can be arranged.
