The teaching position available is for a passionate and talented Primary Years Programme (PYP) Classroom Teacher with the ability to motivate, empower and engage students in their learning, by delivering high quality and innovative lessons. The successful applicant must be able to work effectively with others, as well as display initiative to contribute to the enhancement of the College. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Primary teaching experience 
  • knowledge of K - 6 NESA Curriculum and IB PYP (preferable but not essential)
  • confidence in using technology effectively in the classroom
  • the ability to develop positive rapport with students and colleagues 
  • willingness to employ a range of teaching methodologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
  • Teaching qualification recognised by NESA
  • Valid NESA teacher accreditation number
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate

                                                         Job Description

1. Role Purpose

The Primary classroom teacher works in conjunction with the PYP Coordinator and the Head of Primary. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for the students in his/her class in all matters of academic and pastoral wellbeing and should keep the Head of Primary alerted to any difficulties or problems as they arise.

The Classroom Teacher is the advocate and mentor of students in their care. S/he are the primary link between the child’s home and the College. In this role, they are required to be fully aware and accepting of the College’s Child Protection program and ensure the wellbeing and protection of every child in our care.

3. Key Responsibilities

The Primary Classroom Teacher is the advocate and mentor of students in their care. They are the primary link between the child’s home and the College.

S/he will:

  • Design teaching and learning programs that adhere to NESA syllabus and IB PYP requirements
  • Differentiate these programs to cater for the various learning needs of his /her students
  • Utilise a range of effective and engaging teaching strategies to improve student learning, including explicit instruction
  • Manage challenging behaviour and establish and maintain orderly and workable routines to ensure a productive learning environment 
  • Develop and implement a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning
  • Use student assessment data to inform teaching and learning programs 
  • Report accurately to students and parents regarding student academic achievement 
  • Integrate ICT into teaching and learning programs 
  • Adhere to the College’s Code of Conduct to ensure duty of care of his/her students
  • Participate in weekly staff collaboration meetings and contribute to coll
