Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
· Re- design and develop comprehensive, cohesive, and age-appropriate curricula for all primary school subjects, ensuring alignment with educational standards and learning objectives.
· Ensures that unit plans on Toddle are written and updated according to school policy
Alignment with Standards:
· Ensure that the curriculum meets with school standards, guidelines, and objectives for each subject across different grade levels.
Resource Selection:
· Identify and select appropriate resources, teaching materials, digital resources, and supplementary tools to support the implemented curriculum.
· Manage and maintain resource materials.
Teacher Support:
· Provide guidance, training, and support to teachers for effective implementation of the curriculum, including lesson planning and instructional strategies for diverse learning needs.
· Ensure that observed classroom practice follows the unit and weekly plans.
· Provide support for the teaching in Primary through the delivery of professional development under the supervision of the Deputy Director for Curriculum and Instruction and Primary Principal
Assessment and Evaluation:
· Develop assessment methods and tools to evaluate student progress and curriculum effectiveness, adjusting as needed based on assessment outcomes.
· Monitor assessment components of the curriculum to ensure that they correspond to school philosophy
Continuous Improvement:
· Regularly review and update the curriculum to reflect best practices, educational trends, and advancements in pedagogy and subject-specific knowledge.
· Monitor classroom practices to ensure it meets the adopted curricular frameworks
Collaboration:
· Foster collaboration among teaching staff, subject planners, grade leaders and school leadership to ensure consistency and coherence in the curriculum across subjects and grades.
· Work with Primary teachers to ensure that instructional planning, assessment and pedagogical practice is consistent with I.A.A. policy and maintain supporting documents as needed
Parent and Community Engagement:
· Communicate with parents and involve the community in understanding and supporting the curriculum’s goals and objectives.
· Conduct parent information sessions as directed by the Deputy Director for Curriculum and Instruction and Primary Principal
Data Analysis:
· Analyze educational data, including student performance metrics, to make data-driven decisions regarding curriculum enhancements or modifications.
Compliance and Documentation:
· Ensure compliance with educational regulations, maintain accurate records, and document curriculum changes and developments for reporting purposes.
Differentiated Instruction:
· Encourage and support teachers in employing diverse instructional strategies to accommodate varying learning styles, abilities, and needs of students within the curriculum framework.
· Support and guide teacher in using the Universal Design for Learning guidelines and Promote an inclusive approach to learning and teaching
Inquiry-Based Learning:
· Promote the integration of inquiry-based learning approaches within the curriculum, fostering students’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of subjects.
Technology Integration:
· Advocate for the integration of technology into teaching practices, ensuring that teachers effectively leverage digital tools to enhance learning experiences within the curriculum.
· Collaborate with Educational technology Coordinator and IT department to ensure appropriate integration of content and technology.
Experiential Learning Opportunities:
· Facilitate the inclusion of hands-on, experiential learning opportunities or projects within the curriculum to engage students actively and reinforce conceptual understanding across subjects.
· Encourage an interdisciplinary approach to learning focusing on STEM/STEAM
Leading Innovation
· Identify emerging trends and stay abreast of educational research, pedagogical advancements, and emerging trends in curriculum design and educational technology.
· Encourage experimentation and piloting by creating an environment that encourages teachers to experiment with new teaching methodologies, tools, or interdisciplinary approaches within the curriculum.
Administrative responsibilities
· Oversee the compilation of documentation coverage of the curriculum and material for external authorizations
· Schedule and develop agendas for planning meetings with Primary teachers under the supervision of Primary Principal. Ensure that agendas and minutes are shared with teachers, and the primary principal
· Meet weekly with the Deputy Director for Curriculum and Instruction to discuss development of programmes and related issues
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
· Appropriate educational degree from a recognized university
· Teaching certification /Teaching experience
· Recognized training in the curriculum programmes on offer at IAA
· Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role
· Keep up to date with current educational research and trends in education
· Be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and cultures
· Demonstrate good time management skills with the ability to be punctual and flexible
· Be able to keep organized and detailed records
· Maintain a high level of proficiency with technology
