Job overview
The Role
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher with a proven track record of raising the literacy and numeracy results at Key Stage 2 to lead on raising English and Maths attainment at KS3 within The International School. The role will mainly consist of working with a small number of Year 7 and 8 students who came below national standard from Year 6 to develop their literacy and numeracy attainment to ensure they make progress to nationally expected standards through a Primary style Curriculum.
The School
The International School is a friendly and caring 11-16 school serving 700 pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. We pride ourselves on the positive relationships that thrive within our diverse school population. In April 2016 Ofsted commented that 'Pupils are engaged in and value their learning' and 'Teaching is characterized by highly positive relationships between teachers and pupils'. In fact, since going into special measures in November 2014 the school has been on an improvement journey with an entirely new leadership team and many new inspiring Heads of Faculty. After 4 successful HMI monitoring visits, which all highlighted that leaders were taking effective action for the removal of special measures, we are now embarking on the next stage of our development as we join Washwood Heath multi-academy trust on 1st May 2017 and become ‘Tile Cross Academy’. This collaboration with a strong community based academy trust will ensure that the sharing of good practice and continuing professional development for all staff is at the heart of everything that we do.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has the ability to regularly deliver high quality learning experiences
- Has a proven track record of raising attainment through their teaching and learning, making a positive impact within and beyond their own classroom.
- Has the determination to make a difference to the lives of children
- Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Has the passion and motivation to inspire both pupils and colleagues
- Has aspirations to progress in their professional career
Closing date for applications is 3pm, Friday 31st March
