Job overview

We are looking to appoint an Executive Principal to oversee the running of two inner London academies: Harris Primary Free School Peckham and Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park. Both academies were recently rated Good, and both are very capable of achieving Outstanding in their next inspections. This post would suit an existing Executive Headteacher who is currently leading a small group of schools, or an experienced Headteacher looking for progression to Executive level and the opportunity to run multiple academies.

We need someone with a successful track record of school improvement and the experience of working across multiple academy locations. The successful applicant will work closely with the current Heads of Academy at the two academies. The academies are located very close to one another in Peckham, forming part of a vibrant community, and celebrate a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, faiths and cultures.

As an Executive Principal, you will join a small yet highly collaborative team of fellow Executive Principals who go to great lengths to ensure great outcomes for our pupils, creating excellent places of learning. You will need to be a confident senior leader who can bring the required experience, knowledge and communication skills to engage with staff, parents and the wider community.

About Primary Education at Harris:

Primary education at Harris comprises 19 Primary academies, plus three all-through academies, with every inspected academy having been judged Good or Outstanding (60% Outstanding). Some of these academies are new free schools, but most were previously failing schools located in challenging areas of London.

Harris is a top performing Primary trust. Our group results were 76% at Key Stage 2 this summer. Our academies are generally located in areas of disadvantage and all of our academies are in or close to London.

Why work for the Harris Federation?

As a top performing Multi-Academy Trust, we offer access to a professional and supportive community of academies, executive leaders, and support. Primary at Harris comprises a strong central team of established teaching and learning consultants, Executive Principals, Deputy Director and  Primary Director. Our central office is based next to East Croydon station which gives easy access to London Bridge and Victoria as well as fast access to the M25.

Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each Harris academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. We are looking for an individual who wants to help transform education in London, and create exceptional places of learning.

If you would like to discuss the post in confidence please call Sabeena Hasan, Regional Primary Director, on 020 8253 7777.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.
