Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with an improving track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 21 academies; 11 secondary and 10 primaries across the North of England in eleven Local Authority regions.

Are you passionate about making a difference to provision and outcomes for students with additional needs?

Are you an outstanding practitioner with a SEND background?

We are looking for an outstanding SEND practitioner to lead the development of SEND practice across the primary trust. This will be a key role within our trust. You will lead on our SEND strategy to ensure that identification and assessment, the quality of teaching and provision, and outcomes for SEND students is the best it can be.

An important part of the trust’s strategy for school improvement is to increasingly grow the capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners. A key development area for us is to further improve provision and outcomes for SEND students. We are looking for an outstanding SEND practitioner to lead the development of practice across the primary trust. This role will be suited to someone who has a passion and knowledge of teaching SEND students across the primary age range and who can work closely with teachers coaching and mentoring to develop classroom practice and pedagogy. The role will involve leading on the development of QFT and intervention strategies, identification and assessment of need, funding and provision mapping, and leading on systemic developments across the trust.

In the primary phase across NET academies, the 2019 results showed that Year 6 children reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths matched the national result of 65%.  Whilst we are delighted with this result, we’re always looking to improve further. The improvement in SEND outcomes is key to this.

Reporting directly to the deputy chief executive, you will be responsible for improving outcomes for SEND students in the primary phase across the trust. This will be underpinned by our vision, ‘We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for our children. By doing this, we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care’.

Working alongside other highly skilled leaders/directors, you will have responsibility for leading on development of SEND teaching and learning across the trust. You will be an outstanding SEND teacher, who is able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be able to role model best practice. You will be passionate about providing quality education to children regardless of their background to ensure that they all receive the best quality education that they deserve.

This role will be ideal for someone with a SEND background, who absolutely loves teaching children but wishes to take the next step forward in their career development.  Working across more than one academy will give you the opportunity to develop as a leader whilst also broadening your knowledge and skills.  At Northern Education Trust, we have the most fantastic team who are keen to learn and share ideas!

Regular travel across the trust academies will be necessary in supporting curriculum leadership and teacher development throughout the trust. This post would cover all of our academies in the North West and North East regions.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All posts are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks. We expect all adults to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

Closing date: 5pm on Sunday 14th November.
