About Galaxy International School
Galaxy International School, Almaty, Kazakhstan
Galaxy International School (GIS) is a private co-educational and not-for-profit day school that was established in 2014. Despite the fact that GIS has operated as an international school for several years only, its establishment as an educational institution goes back to 1996. From 1996 to 2014 it operated as a bilingual school offering Kazakh National Curriculum with Sciences and Mathematics being taught in English.
Our mission is to strive to develop well-rounded global citizens with a passion for lifelong learning.
Our motto - Learning for a better world – inspires us to value teaching and learning as well as pastoral care we provide to our students.
We aspire to assist our students to discover the world through a set of our School Values which are as follows:
- Academic excellence
- Integrity
- International mindedness
- Inquiry
- Reflection
- Sense to others
At GIS we follow Cambridge international curriculum which is enriched with Kazakh, Russian and History of Kazakhstan to foster the students’ engagement with the local culture. Our students take Cambridge international examinations including Checkpoints (Primary & Lower Secondary), IGCSEs and AS/A Levels at the end of the relevant curriculum stages.
Both our students and staff members benefit a great deal from the location of the school as Almaty, having hosted Asian Winter Games 2011 and Winter Universiade 2017, offers excellent outdoor activities ranging from outdoor recreation in natural settings to major cultural events.
