Kimberley College is seeking a passionate and experienced part-time Primary School Music / Instrumental teacher to be part of our dynamic team of teaching professionals.  Kimberley College is a co-educational, non-denominational school that serves approx. 750 students from Prep to Year 12 nestled in a unique and peaceful environment 30kms southeast of the Brisbane CBD in Carbrook. The College was established as a secondary school in 2000 with a distinctive multi-age program with a primary sector added in 2016. The college is supported with around 100 dedicated teaching and support staff.

The College is seeking a Primary School Music and Instrumental teacher who values collaboration, team teaching and have experience working in multi-age, team teaching learning environments.  They will be a committed team member who provides an engaging, differentiated program using Marzano's ASOT framework.  

The successful candidate for this teaching role will ideally be experienced in the following:

  • Experienced in music classroom teaching at a primary school level;
  • Multi-instrument music tuition (group lessons) and the direction of music ensembles are also key elements of this role;
  • Previous experience in developing a successful primary band program;
  • Australian Curriculum and current assessment practices;
  • Demonstrated excellent written and spoken English skills;
  • Demonstrated capacity in effective classroom management;
  • Commitment to operate in professional learning teams as a collaborative and team-oriented person;
  • Capacity and willingness to differentiate instructional approaches and materials for mixed ability classes;
  • Assist with the development and sharing of teaching materials;
  • Participate in the school's professional development activities in and out of school hours;
  • Participating in the school's sporting, camps and extra co-curricular programs;
  • Engaging with students and families to build strong relationships within the college.

Curriculum 

Kimberley College is based around a multi-aged classroom system. This effectively moves the year level focus that is typical of traditional schooling to a more modern approach.  This provides students with the opportunity for success regardless of their age or level of achievement measured against global standards. This leads to improved self-confidence and self-worth which are foundational to “enabling all students to explore and build on their gifts and talents”. Multi-aged classrooms at Kimberley College feature collaborative teaching teams that facilitate teaching and learning for all year levels and all Key Learning Areas through a thematic approach. This removes the need for movement between classrooms and classes which allows students to build strong working relationships between themselves and their teachers.
