The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a great school in a wonderful location. We are an HMC school, judged by the BSO (British Schools Overseas) Inspectorate to be “Outstanding” in every area, including safeguarding, pupil welfare, pupil progress and outcomes.

BSB is a large, very popular school for children aged 3 to 18. Our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, and we offer a wide range of iGCSEs, A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, all alongside a significant enrichment programme.

Over 1900 pupils from more than 50 nationalities attend the school and over 290 staff work at BSB. We are based in three locations, two just outside the city of Barcelona – in Castelldefels, where we have a Primary, Secondary and Pre- University campus, and in the cosmopolitan town of Sitges, where we have another Primary campus. BSB City is in the heart of the city of Barcelona itself with an Early Years specialist campus (opened in September 2021), and a brand-new Primary and Secondary campus which opened in September 2023.

Positions Available

Owing to growth in pupil numbers, we are recruiting a full-time, permanent, Primary Physical Education Coach for our BSB campus in Barcelona City.

The successful candidate will start on August 26th 2024.

Please note – UK qualifications and relevant experience delivering the English National Curriculum, either in the UK or in overseas British Schools, are essential for all posts. We require our staff to be English-speaking teachers (native-speaker level).

The Role  

As a Physical Education Coach, you will be responsible for teaching a full range of Physical Education activities from EYFS to Year 6 including games, athletic activities, fundamental movement skills, gymnastics and dance. You should have the ability to ensure PE lessons are enjoyable and meaningful for all pupils, developing confidence, competence and creativity and an awareness of the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle for wellbeing. You will also be responsible for incorporating behaviour management styles that allow students to become accustomed to managing their own behaviour to prepare them for senior school.

The appointed Physical Education Coach will need a proven, excellent track-record of: 

·        Planning and teaching KS1 and KS2 Physical Education within the framework of the English National Curriculum.

·        Setting high expectations which engage, motivate and challenge pupils.

·        Monitoring and being accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes.

·        Setting high expectations of positive attitudes to learning.

·        Communicating effectively with parents with regard to pupils’ achievements and wellbeing.

·        Making a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of a school.

·        Continuously challenging themselves to improve, progress and be the best coach they can possibly be.
