Job overview

We are looking to appoint an experienced Primary School Counsellor to start in August 2023.  

The successful candidate will be an outstanding School Counsellor, who will take responsibility for some whole school practices, but should also be a specialist in the area of primary counselling (Age 3-11). An experienced practitioner, the successful candidate will join a small team and will have the knowledge and understanding of a complex position in order to liaise frequently with inclusion, education and behaviour specialists. Experience in an English National Curriculum setting would be preferred but not essential, however, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of working with or within schools. Experience in play therapy and supporting social and emotional development in the early years is desired. 

 Our ideal candidate will have:

- Previous experience within an outstanding Counselling department.

- Qualification in children counselling

- Qualification in play therapy 

- Experience working with pupils across all key stages and abilities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Excellent organisation and time management.

- Commitment to the values of inclusion, diversity and well-being.

The successful candidate will work alongside Senior staff members to promote the school's strategic vision.
