The Academies for Character and Excellence consists of seven primary schools with three further schools in Management Partnerships, as well as three pre-schools.

We aim to be a dynamic and innovative learning organisation. We live our mission and return to this constantly to help guide every action. At the heart of all we do is the pursuit of excellence; we want to grow an exceptional Trust, comprised of excellent schools. We are achieving this through our shared core values of collaboration, community, equity, integrity, equity and of course uncompromising excellence.

We are truly collaborative and we work together within, and across, our schools to ensure that all our children and members of staff achieve their potential. Together we work to create a full and rich curriculum allowing everyone to flourish - we translate our vision of excellence into our every-day practice. We are proud of our outcomes, but we aspire to achieve more than just academic excellence for our children. We also want our children to become healthy thinkers, curious explorers, caring citizens, knowledgeable participants and confident individuals.

We aim to serve our communities and our schools make every effort to connect with families, local community groups and organisations to ensure that our children and families are nurtured, supported and provided with opportunities through our schools. We want our schools to feel rooted within our communities.

Our value of equity leads us to want the very best for every child and every member of staff. The Academies for Character and Excellence believe in ‘Personal Growth for All’ and we are committed to tackle inequalities and overcome disadvantage, and to provide bespoke opportunities for professional learning for all.

Brixham Church of England Primary School is located in a mixed MAT where six of our schools are Church Schools. We believe in creating a strong, inclusive Values-infused culture in all our schools regardless of their designation. Brixham, like all our schools, has an Ethos committee which works together to further enhance the ethos and distinctiveness of the school.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional, ambitious leader to join our team. The successful candidate will not only inspire and lead at Brixham, but will also join a group of passionate Headteachers to further develop our organisation together. Your professional development will be bespoke and you will be supported by one of our experienced ACE Strategic Advisors to strengthen and hone your leadership skills. You will automatically be part of the Trust’s Talent Management programme where you will have opportunities to grow and develop further.

We are looking for exceptional candidates who:

  • Has a commitment to the mission, vision and ethos of the school and Trust;
  • Has successful leadership within a primary setting with evidence of impact;
  • Can inspire and motivate both colleagues and children to enable them to be the best that they can be;
  • Demonstrable experience of successful line management and staff development;
  • Has an understanding of highly effective pedagogy, based on evidence, and will have the ability to model this for others and support others to improve;
  •  Is aspirational for the achievement of disadvantaged children, using strategies based on evidence;
  • Will be committed to ensuring that all children achieve the highest possible outcomes;
  • Will work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust and in the school, the local committee and the wider community to ensure that our mission is translated into action;

You will be a reflective and ambitious leader with excellent interpersonal qualities with the ability to motivate, inspire and hold others to account.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS clearance is required for this post.
