YK Pao School is a pioneering international Chinese school, educating 1,200 students aged 5 to 18 from China and overseas on three state-of-the-art campuses in central Shanghai and the Songjiang District of Shanghai. Since opening in 2007, the School has developed a unique Chinese-English bilingual programme that integrates Shanghai and international curricula and prepares its students to become engaged and responsible global citizens. It has a deserved reputation and is highly over-subscribed.
Following the appointment of Michael Spencer to the prestigious Headship of an Academy in Mozambique, the Board seeks an exceptional educationalist to oversee what is a major campus and lead the Primary School - a day school for pupils in Years 1 to 5 - located in Shanghai’s city centre. The appointee will build on the School’s growing reputation for developing the whole person, internationalism and passing on the traditions of Chinese culture.
The successful candidate will be a strong, adaptable and sensitive leader, with a keen interest in bilingual education and curriculum development. He or she will have a track record of senior leadership experience (not necessarily gained in China), an evident interest in children’s learning and excellent communication skills. A willingness to collaborate effectively with the High School and Middle School Principals is essential, as is a profound resonance with YK Pao’s values of compassion, integrity and balance.
