Job overview

Outwood Academy Acklam is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Regional Teacher of Science that loves changing the lives of young people through passionate teaching. We invite applications from secondary teachers, and primary teachers wishing to teach within the secondary sector and experience KS3 teaching. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to putting Students First, by ensuring the highest standards of learning, achievement and development for all pupils, are met.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic primary teacher with a desire to expand their teaching for mastery in the transition from KS2 to KS3. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential but you do not have to have a degree in science. Our KS3 curriculum is taught as “General Science” through our evolving, dynamic and well-resourced new KS3 course.

The Science Department has a wide range of teaching experiences from which we all benefit. It is housed in six specialist laboratories and three hybrid teaching laboratories. All three sciences are strong and popular at Outwood Academy Acklam, with pupils regularly achieving the highest grades from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. We have excellent practical teaching resources and two wonderful technicians to support your practice.

This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, driven professionals to join our Family of Schools. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential as is a passion for Science. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’. Your relentless drive will ensure our students gain the best possible outcomes. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.

This post is a permanent Acklam contract that will be based at Outwood Academy Acklam in the first instance to cover a period of maternity leave. For September 2023, subject to curriculum demand, the successful candidate may be required to undertake a period of teaching at a neighbouring Outwood academy until a suitable vacancy arises at Acklam.

Please note that CVs will not be accepted as part of our recruitment process. If you require further information please contact Sam Harvey, HR Assistant, by email: s.harvey@acklam.outwood.com
