About the role:

Sunmarke School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Primary STEAM Computing Teacher to join our innovative team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our purpose-built STEAM centre, working alongside a Primary STEAM DT Teacher to inspire and educate KS2 students. Our curriculum is design-thinking driven, culminating in immersive two-week residencies where students bring their projects to life, employing a vast array of STEAM skills. If you have a flair for collaborative work, a flexible and creative mindset, and in-depth computing knowledge, we invite you to apply.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Collaborate closely with the STEAM DT teacher and other primary class teachers to ensure a seamless integration of the computing curriculum with ongoing projects.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging two-week residencies in the STEAM centre, tailored to maximise student engagement and learning outcomes. 
  • Deliver instruction in a variety of computing disciplines, including coding, robotics, 3D printing, CAD and lead engaging ECAs such as Lego League.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners and encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback, guiding them towards achieving a high-standard final product.
  • Continuously update the curriculum to include the latest trends and advancements in STEAM education and computing technology.
  • Engage with the broader school community to showcase the importance and achievements of the STEAM centre.

About you:  

We seek to appoint an outstanding Primary STEAM Computing Teacher to join our team in August 2024 start.  

We are looking for certain qualities:

  • A track record of effective collaboration and positive relationship building with colleagues.
  • A flexible approach to the planning and delivery of the curriculum to accommodate various projects and student needs.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in coding, robotics, 3D printing, CAD and other computing technologies relevant to primary education.
  • An innovative and creative approach to teaching that integrates design thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • This opportunity will include teaching the subject at Key Stage 2 whilst also collaborating with Key Stage 1 colleagues.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and well-qualified holding as a minimum, a B.Ed. or a B.A & PGCE and QTS.
