Applications are invited from suitably qualified K-6 Primary Teachers to fill the above position at St Joseph’s School, Glen Innes, commencing 29 April 2019 and concluding 20 December 2019. 


Essential criteria:

  • Teaching qualifications meeting the standard for accreditation with NESA;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the Catholic faith and mission of the school;
  • Demonstrate a high standard of competency and proficiency in classroom practice and student management;
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a team member of the school and parish community;
  • Hold appropriate Religious Education qualifications (or willingness to obtain);
  • Ability to teach Religious Education;
  • Capacity to teach in flexible learning environments;
  • An understanding of the importance of a collaborative approach to teaching and be willing to contribute positively as a committed member of a Professional Learning Community;
  • Be willing to teach any year level from K-6;
  • Working with Children Check Clearance.

About St Joseph’s Primary School

St Joseph’s School is an independent, co-educational, Catholic Primary School in Glen Innes on the Northern Tablelands, in the New England region of New South Wales. Founded by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, it provides a Catholic education to around 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Facilities

The solid brick buildings of the school contain classrooms which have been recently upgraded to provide space and resources. The school grounds, which also contain the Catholic Church, Parish Hall and Presbytery, are spacious to allow for a range of activities. The children can participate in a variety of sporting activities from Kindergarten to Year 6, either during scheduled sport time or as part of their PD/H/PE lessons.

Student learning at the school is enhanced by the integration of ICT in the form of laptops, Chromebooks and Apple Air Drop for smartboards/interactive TV’s.   

Curriculum

St Joseph’s school provides an educational program based on and in accordance with the Board of Studies, Teacher and Educational Standards, NSW syllabuses for Primary Education.  The Key Learning Areas are English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Creative Arts and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.

The curriculum focuses on creating 21st century learners, able to use the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that they require to thrive in today’s world.
